This comes straight from the Deep Creek Coffee & Cocoa Crawl! From December 1, 2023 to January 1, 2024, the first annual Deep Creek Coffee & Cocoa Crawl was held. Why? Because we've got a lot of great coffee spots in Deep Creek + Garrett County, MD and a "crawl" event was a great way […]
We're in the thick of it here in the mountains of Deep Creek + Garrett County, MD! SUMMER!!! For our far western corner of Maryland, summer mostly means lots and lots of visitors. With over 1 million visitors coming to Deep Creek each year, Memorial Day to Labor Day presents a sort of "hustle and […]
Breakfast! It's been a topic of conversation between myself and my FTL followers lately. Where can we get more than just good coffee? Which diner do you recommend? Is Perkins the only place at the lake where you can get a big breakfast? I didn't realize there was so much wonderment behind breakfast in Garrett […]
Happy December! And Happy Snow Day! Garrett County Schools let out two hours early because of the snow and after a couple of inches yesterday, we're waiting for a few more between now and tomorrow morning. All this snow plus all the holiday decor, events and SHOPPING opportunities kicks the Christmas cheer up an extra notch, don't you think?
Now that we're officially in "snow season" (we had our first "big" storm earlier this month), I thought it might be appropriate to share some winter lodging ideas for Garrett County and Deep Creek. Because who wouldn't want to get snowed in while staying in a tiny cabin, luxurious yurt or lakefront B&B out here in the mountains!?
Summer was good to us, September brought us continued sunshine and warmth, and as soon as October began, nature flipped a switch and fall finally arrived, a little later than normal.
One of the things I knew FTL needed to include was our local events. We may be considered "small town" here in Garrett County, but we're BIG when it comes to events and things to do. In a nutshell, we're busy over here in our corner of Maryland!
Garrett County is a four-season area with things to do and see no matter the time of year. But the bulk of our activity lies in the cold and warm months, so winter and summer are when most opportunities seem to be “open” and available. Here’s a short list of some places that you’ll now find open for the summer season!
I don’t know about you, but shopping is always at the top of my list of things to do when visiting a new place. Heck, it’s even on the top of my list at times when I’m just looking for something to do while at home.
Tabitha is one of Garrett County’s most talented, creative and sweetest ladies! I’ve worked with her both as a photography client and wedding professional and have always been impressed by her skills. What started as a faux flower business for Tabitha has now turned into a flower + home influence at Tabitha’s Table.
As I talk with more and more visitors here in Garrett County, I find that many are missing ALL THREE waterfalls when they walk the trails at Swallow Falls. Of course there’s the “big falls”, Muddy Creek Falls, and that’s the one that everyone sees. But what about Swallow Falls and Tolliver Falls?
Since my primary job is wedding photographer, my interests naturally fall to weddings. I’m especially excited and passionate about the weddings happening here in Garrett County and the amount of destination couples we have marrying each year. This version of Insider Info goes beyond finding a venue and hiring some vendors.
