Coming in for the weekend and wondering what to do at Deep Creek? You're already here and want to be in tune with the latest and greatest? The Deep Creek Weekly Round-Up is for you...

Weather, events, things to do, insider tips and info for March 14th-20th

Written on Friday, March 15th (a day late)...

THE WEATHER

We received a good bit of snow on Sunday, schools had a two-hour delay on Monday, but the snow melted quickly. We also hit 70 degrees yesterday, Thursday!

50s today, Friday, 50 and sun tomorrow, then the cold returns through Wednesday. 'Tis March in the #tundraofmaryland.

THIS JUST IN

BIG SALE still happening at High Mountain Sports! Skis, snowboards, boots, helmets, winter jackets and pants, hats...it's all on sale right now! Man In Charge Steve Green told me this past Saturday that the sale would last through this week and likely into next.

I had the vegan queso dip at Ace's Run yesterday during a lunch meeting with Terah Crawford and it was very good! I also talked to bar tender Doug who said their summer drink menu will be coming next month. Look for cucumber and pepper, pineapple and ginger flavors.

THINGS TO DO

With sunshine and 50 coming tomorrow, Saturday, I recommend checking a trail or two. The Kendall Trail in Friendsville is an easy, straight walk along the Youghiogheny River and steps away from The Root Cafe.

Broadford Park is also worth noting, especially the newer Bike Skills Park, which is right next to a really fabulous playground.

Looking for fish on Fridays through Lent? Ace's Run and St. Peter's in Oakland has meals!

Check out the St. Patrick's Day drinks at our coffee spots.

QUESTIONS FROM YOU

Q: Where can we watch the 4th of July fireworks while at Deep Creek?
A: I recommend checking out the Garrett County Fairgrounds (right across the cove from where the fireworks will go off) or Wisp Resort (where the fireworks will go off). You may want to go a couple hours early to make sure you get a spot.
